DESCRIPTION

This compelling experience combines the study of the Italian language with exciting afternoon activities which range from a guided snorkelling trip in the marine reserve of Plemmirio to view a fascinating underwater archaeological site to a breathtaking riverside horse-back trek along the ancient valleys of the Hyblaean mountains. You may kayak on the fiume Ciane, sail around the island of Ortygia and enjoy a volcanic experience on the slopes of Mt. Etna where recent flows of lava have carved their path through forests and buildings.

All the activities are coordinated and led by professional guides and instructors. Depending on the length of the course chosen, the afternoon and weekend program will include:

Trekking on the volcano

Trekking on Etna, guided excursion on the slopes of the highest active volcano in Europe to enjoy the breath-taking view and lunar landscapes.

Horse-back river trek

Palazzolo Ranch, horse-back trek along the world famous Hyblaean valleys

Kayaking

Kayaking on the fiume Ciane, which is the only area in Europe where the Egyptian papyrus plant grows naturally.

Archaeological Snorkelling

Dive into the deep blue waters of the Plemmirio marine reserve to discover ancient ruins and observe the many, colourful varieties of Mediterrenean fish.

Sailing Trip

Sailing trip around the island of Ortygia with a sailing instructor and introductory course to sailing.

Marine turtle beach reserve

A trip to the Vendicari Nature reserve with its uncontaminated beaches where marine turtles and numerous bird species come to nest.
