The Italian Academy renews the Gender Equality Certification (UNI/PdR 125:2022)

5 December 2025

Following a successful audit by SGS Italia, the Italian Academy strengthens its long-term commitment to an inclusive workplace and gender equality.

The Italian Academy has successfully completed the assessment process for the renewal of its Gender Equality Certification under UNI/PdR 125:2022, conducted by SGS Italia (SGS Italy), an accredited certification body.
The certification attests to the effectiveness of our management system and the policies in place to reduce gender gaps across all stages of working life—from recruitment and career development to pay equity and work–life balance. The UNI/PdR 125:2022 guideline is built on clear indicators and requires continuous monitoring verified by an independent third-party audit.

In Sicily, where women’s employment and talent development remain core challenges, this result carries particular significance. For the Italian Academy, it confirms a people-centred approach and a sustained focus on the quality of the working environment.

The audit placed special emphasis on strategic areas, as competency-based, gender-neutral recruitment and development processes, and accessible, stereotype-free training and professional development.
“This certification recognises our day-to-day work and, at the same time, encourages us to keep moving forward: we want our school to remain a place where opportunities are not defined by gender, and where a culture of respect and fairness is strengthened everyday,” comments Elisa Amato, Human Resources Manager.

“It is another step in the right direction of our longer journey,” as added by the Board. “We will continue to invest in listening and training to make our commitment to gender equality and inclusion ever more concrete, and to contribute positively to the community we serve.”

The Italian Academy thanks SGS Italia for the professionalism shown throughout the evaluation process and all colleagues whose contributions made this achievement possible.
