How much progress can I expect to make?
The level of progress depends on your starting level and study time. Using the communicative method, we ensure weekly targets by monitoring progress and focusing on individual needs.
Are the courses available all year round?
Yes. Our courses are available all year round, except for two weeks during the Christmas holiday.
Can I start the course on any Monday?
Yes, students can join a group every Monday, even as beginners. Before arrival, new students are required to complete an online test; on Monday morning, an oral test with a teacher will be conducted to determine the most suitable group for the new student.
How is progress assessed?
Daily feedback and weekly reports by teachers; regular tests track improvement and highlight areas to work on.
What teaching method is used?
Communicative approach focusing on speaking, listening, reading, and writing with interactive communication. Italian is the main language of instruction in our courses, ensuring students learn effectively by fully immersing themselves in Italian language and culture.
Will I receive an official certificate?
The Italian Academy is a centre for CILS and DITALS, University of Siena. Long-term courses can prepare for exams from A1 to C2.
What’s the weather like in Sicily?

Do I need a Visa for Italy?
EU citizens do not need a student visa. Some non-EU citizens staying less than 90 days may not need a visa if in the visa-waiver program; check official guidance.
Do I need Medical Insurance?
EU students with EHIC can access state healthcare. Non-EU students should verify coverage for study stays and arrange travel insurance if needed.
