The Engineering & IT (EIT) track of the International Foundation Year equips students with the analytical mindset and technical competencies needed to thrive in university-level science and engineering programs. Through a curriculum rooted in mathematics, physics, chemistry, logic, and computational thinking, students build a robust foundation in problem-solving and quantitative reasoning—skills that are highly valued in both academia and industry.
Academic Progression
After completing the Foundation Year, students are eligible to:
- Apply to Kore University of Enna for a wide range of Bachelor’s degrees in Engineering and Technology, with no admission test required for Foundation Year graduates. Scholarships may also be available for degree studies, subject to merit and availability.
- Sit admission exams (TOLC-I, TIL, or similar) to access undergraduate programs at other Italian public or private universities offering degrees in:
- Mechanical and Civil Engineering
- Aerospace and Aeronautical Engineering
- Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence
- Environmental and Energy Engineering
- Industrial and Automation Engineering
- Robotics, Mechatronics and Material Science
- Pursue specializations that combine technology and innovation, such as smart systems, sustainable infrastructure, and data-driven engineering solutions.
Academic Readiness and Admission Preparation
Throughout the EIT track, students are thoroughly prepared for the academic and admission challenges of technical degree programs. Key areas of instruction include:
- Advanced Mathematics and Applied Physics, with a focus on mechanics, thermodynamics, and electromagnetism
- Chemistry, including stoichiometry, bonding, and basic organic chemistry
- Computational Thinking and Statistics, designed to foster data literacy and algorithmic problem-solving
- Logical Reasoning and Critical Thinking, essential for technical test formats and university aptitude assessments
The track also includes targeted training for the TOLC-I and TIL tests, ensuring students are confident and well-prepared for national and institutional admission requirements.
Career Pathways and Industry Relevance
Italy is a global leader in high-performance engineering, with a legacy of excellence in automotive, aerospace, industrial design, and innovation. The “Made in Italy” label is synonymous with technological quality—from Ferrari and Lamborghini to Leonardo (aerospace) and Luxottica (optics). As one of the top 10 global economies, Italy offers unmatched opportunities for future engineers:
- Internships and entry-level placements in cutting-edge companies and industrial clusters across Italy and the EU
- Research and development roles in academic institutions and private tech labs
- Cross-border career mobility, with Italian degrees recognized throughout Europe and beyond
Students who continue their academic journey in Italy benefit from close ties between universities and industries, including access to advanced labs, simulators, and collaborative innovation platforms.
